Validity is not a Petrobras decision: it is set by law. Article 65 of Law 13,303/2016 (the State-Owned Companies Law) determines that registration records are valid for no more than one year and may be updated at any time. Petrobras repeats that limit on its official certificate page: validity is up to one year.
Official source: Law 13,303/2016, Article 65 — Planalto (Portuguese)- Your CRC expires on the EARLIEST date among the Technical, Financial and Legal criteria.
- Financial and Legal criteria are renewed annually.
- Petrobras advises submitting the renewal request up to 60 days before expiry.
- The Technical criterion is automatically extended while the supplier maintains technical approval.
The 60 days are guidance; expiry is the decisive point
Read Petrobras’ wording precisely: it ADVISES requesting renewal up to 60 days before expiry. We searched the official material and did not find that timeframe published as a rule with its own penalty — so we do not call it a rule. What is definitive is expiry itself. Once validity ends, the certificate no longer covers qualification and you must again prove everything within each tender deadline. The 60 days exist because assessment takes time: applying the day before means betting it will be completed the same day. Add what the law itself says: registration may be amended, suspended or cancelled at any time if the registered party stops meeting the requirements (Article 65, paragraph 4).
Validity depends on how many criteria you have passed
Because the expiry date is the earliest among the criteria, a partial CRC follows a different renewal schedule from a full CRC — and its holder needs to know exactly what still has to be proven within the tender deadline.
