How matching works
First, we retrieve public tax registry data: registered name, status, size, municipality and CNAEs. Second, we compare CNAE descriptions and the registered name with the sectors used to classify the Petrobras tenders we collect daily. Third, we show the collected tender count for each matching sector, and open tender counts when our data is reliable enough to publish them.
Only a match from the primary CNAE or registered company name counts as a fit. Secondary-only matches do not count: listing many secondary activities is common in Brazil, and treating them all as a fit would make the result uninformative.
What this lookup cannot answer
It does not select your official Petronect supply family. CNAE describes economic activity; supply families describe what Petrobras buys. Our sectors organize tender data and help size your market, but do not replace a case-by-case review of the official supply-family lists.
It does not assess documentation for Legal, Financial, Technical, Technical-HSE or Integrity criteria. Those require articles of association, financial statements, attestations and certificates, none of which a CNPJ lookup evaluates. It cannot promise approval or a deadline. If your corporate purpose does not cover your intended supplies, that issue must be addressed at the commercial registry first.
The result depends on the quality of your tax records. If your activity changed without a CNAE update, this lookup may be wrong: what you actually do matters more than the code.

How do you identify sectors from a CNPJ?
We retrieve public CNPJ data from the Brazilian tax authority and compare the primary and secondary CNAE descriptions and registered company name with the supply sectors used in our Petrobras tender database. This is term matching, not an official mapping. Only matches from the primary CNAE or registered name count as a fit. Matches from secondary CNAEs alone are excluded, since companies commonly list many secondary activities.
Is a sector the same as a Petronect supply family?
No. A supply family is an official Petrobras registration code. Petrobras does not publish a CNAE-to-family mapping: automatic conversion is an approximation, not a lookup of an official document. Our sectors classify the tenders we collect and help estimate the market in your industry. Choosing a supply family requires a case-by-case review of Petronect lists.
Does this lookup tell me whether my company will receive CRC approval?
No. CNPJ data alone cannot establish that. Approval depends on the Legal, Financial, Technical, Technical-HSE and Integrity criteria assessed during registration. These require documents such as articles of association, financial statements, performance attestations and certificates. CNAE provides none of these.
Do I need to provide an email or phone number?
Yes. Provide an email address and a Brazilian mobile number with area code to complete the lookup. We use these details to follow up on your request and keep the result and public company details as a commercial record. The lookup remains free and does not create an advisory contract. What if my CNAE does not describe what my company actually does?
This often happens when companies change their activities without updating tax records. In that case the lookup is inherently inaccurate. Request an assessment and explain what you actually supply. Your corporate purpose must cover that supply: this is checked under the Legal criterion and addressed at the commercial registry, not in Petronect.
